Power off the device and unplug it (or remove the batteries).
If it’s a laptop, flip it over and gently shake to dislodge loose debris.
Use compressed air in short bursts between keys.
For sticky keys, dampen a lint-free cloth or cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher).
Wipe the key tops and edges with the lightly dampened cloth/swab.
For grime around key edges, use a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
If keys are removable (desktop keyboards), remove keycaps carefully using a keycap puller.
Soak removable keycaps in warm soapy water, then rinse and dry completely.
Clean the exposed keyboard surface with compressed air and a lightly dampened cloth/swab.
Do not let liquid pool around switches or under the keyboard.
Allow everything to dry fully before reassembly or powering on.
Reattach keycaps (if removed) and press gently to seat them.
For stubborn residue, repeat with compressed air and minimal alcohol on swabs/cloth.
Avoid bleach, harsh solvents, and excessive moisture.
Avoid using sharp tools that can damage keycaps or switch housings.
