Unplug the washing machine
Remove any clothes from the drum
Clean the detergent drawer
Wipe the door, gasket, and seals
Check and clean the lint filter or drain pump filter
Run an empty hot cycle with washing machine cleaner or white vinegar
Add baking soda to the drum if desired
Scrub any remaining residue inside the drum
Leave the door open to air dry
Wipe the exterior of the machine
Clean the hoses and surrounding area regularly
