Let the grate cool completely
Remove the grate from the grill
Scrape off loose debris with a grill brush or scraper
Soak the grate in warm, soapy water
Scrub the grate with a non-abrasive sponge or brush
Rinse the grate thoroughly with clean water
Dry the grate completely with a towel
Wipe the grate lightly with cooking oil
Reinstall the grate in the grill
Clean the grate after each use
