How To Cook Dried Garbanzo Beans?

Sort through the dried garbanzo beans and remove debris or damaged beans

Rinse the beans thoroughly under cold water

Soak the beans in plenty of water for 8 to 12 hours or overnight

Drain and rinse the soaked beans

Place the beans in a pot and cover with fresh water by 2 to 3 inches

Bring to a boil over high heat

Reduce to a simmer and skim off any foam if needed

Cook until tender, usually 1 to 2 hours

Add salt near the end of cooking

Drain the beans when they reach the desired tenderness

Use immediately or cool and store in the refrigerator or freezer
