Pat shrimp dry with paper towels
Season with salt, pepper, and optional garlic, paprika, or lemon
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat
Add oil or butter
Place shrimp in a single layer
Cook 1 to 2 minutes per side
Flip when shrimp turn pink and opaque on the bottom
Cook until shrimp are pink, opaque, and curled into a loose C shape
Remove from heat immediately
Serve right away
