Sort and rinse the soybeans
Soak the soybeans in plenty of water for 8 to 12 hours
Drain and rinse the soaked soybeans
Add the soybeans to a pot and cover with fresh water
Bring to a boil
Reduce to a simmer
Cook until tender, about 1 to 2 hours
Skim off any foam if needed
Add more water during cooking if necessary
Drain the cooked soybeans
Season or use as desired
