Drink plenty of fluids

Avoid acidic, spicy, or salty foods
Use oral pain relief measures if recommended by a doctor
Wash hands frequently
Keep the child home until fever is gone and mouth sores are healing
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces
See a doctor if symptoms are severe, prolonged, or worsening
Seek urgent care for dehydration, trouble breathing, confusion, or seizures
