Use a fragrance-free, dye-free moisturizer several times daily

Trim the baby’s nails to reduce skin damage from scratching
Use mittens if scratching is severe

Use any prescribed steroid cream exactly as directed by a pediatrician
Use any prescribed nonsteroid treatment exactly as directed by a pediatrician
Seek medical care if the rash is severe, infected, spreading, or not improving
Seek urgent care if the baby has fever, pus, increasing redness, swelling, or poor feeding
