Leave it to thaw for several hours or overnight
Place the steak in a bowl or on a plate to catch any drips
Use cold water thawing by sealing the steak in a leak-proof bag
Submerge the bag in cold water
Change the water every 30 minutes
Cook the steak immediately after cold water thawing
Use the microwave defrost setting only if cooking right away
Flip or rotate the steak during microwave thawing if needed
Avoid thawing steak at room temperature
Check that the steak is fully thawed before cooking
