Wash and dry the cherries
Remove the stems
Use a cherry pitter to push out the pit
If you do not have a pitter, use a straw, chopstick, or piping tip to push the pit out
Alternatively, cut the cherry in half and remove the pit by hand
Keep the cherries over a bowl to catch juice
Check each cherry for any remaining pit fragments
