Preheat the BBQ to medium heat, about 375–400°F
Scrub the potatoes clean and dry them well
Pierce each potato several times with a fork
Rub the potatoes with oil
Sprinkle with salt if desired
Wrap each potato tightly in aluminum foil, or place directly on the grill for a crispier skin
Place the potatoes on the BBQ over indirect heat
Close the lid
Cook for 45–60 minutes, turning occasionally
Check doneness by inserting a fork or skewer into the center
Remove from the BBQ when tender
Unwrap carefully if using foil
Serve hot with desired toppings
