Wash the jeans first
Keep the jeans damp
Protect the work area
Wear gloves
Fill a bucket, sink, or washing machine with hot water
Dissolve the dye according to the package instructions
Add salt or dye fixative if required by the dye
Submerge the jeans fully
Stir or agitate often for even color
Leave the jeans in the dye bath for the recommended time
Rinse the jeans in cool water until the water runs clear
Wash the jeans separately with mild detergent
Dry the jeans away from direct heat if possible
Repeat the process if a darker color is needed
