Choose a ripe jackfruit if you want to eat it raw; choose young jackfruit if you want to cook it
Wash the outside of the fruit
Oil your knife and hands lightly to reduce stickiness
Cut the jackfruit in half, then into smaller sections
Remove the core and separate the pods
Pull out the yellow fruit pods
Remove the seeds if needed
Eat the ripe pods fresh
Spit out or discard the seeds if not cooked
Cook young jackfruit by boiling, steaming, sautéing, or shredding it for recipes
Refrigerate leftover jackfruit in an airtight container
Freeze extra jackfruit for longer storage
