Contact each of the three major credit bureaus to place a credit freeze: Equifax, Experian, TransUnion
Create an account on each bureau’s website or use their mobile app/online portal
Submit required identity information (name, address, date of birth, Social Security number)
Provide proof of identity as requested by each bureau
Pay any required fee (or request a fee waiver if eligible)
Confirm the freeze is active and record the confirmation/reference number
Freeze your credit with all three bureaus to ensure comprehensive coverage
To temporarily lift or remove the freeze, use each bureau’s portal and specify dates/limits
To unfreeze, follow each bureau’s unfreeze process and save confirmation/reference numbers
Set up alerts or monitoring through your credit accounts if available
