Blot excess oil with a clean paper towel or cloth
Sprinkle baking soda, cornstarch, or talcum powder on the stain to absorb oil
Let sit 30–60 minutes, then brush off powder
Pre-treat with dish soap (or laundry detergent) directly on the stain
Gently rub the fabric together or use a soft brush
Let sit 10–15 minutes
Wash in the warmest water safe for the fabric per care label
Check the stain before drying; air-dry if any oil remains
Repeat pre-treatment and washing if needed
For heavy or old stains: apply a small amount of degreaser or stain remover to the fabric and follow product directions
For delicate fabrics: use a small amount of dish soap and rinse thoroughly before washing
For upholstery or items that can’t be washed: apply baking soda to absorb, then dab with a small amount of dish soap mixed with water; blot dry and repeat as needed
Keep heat (dryer/iron) off the stain until fully removed
Use spot-cleaning only on dry-clean-only items and take to a professional if oil persists
