Brush teeth twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush
Use fluoride toothpaste
Brush for at least two minutes each time
Angle the brush toward the gumline
Brush all tooth surfaces, including the back teeth
Floss once daily
Use interdental brushes if floss is difficult
Rinse with an antiseptic or fluoride mouthwash
Clean the tongue daily
Limit sugary and starchy foods and drinks
Drink water after meals and snacks
Chew sugar-free gum after eating
Replace toothbrush every 3 months or sooner if frayed
Use an electric toothbrush if helpful
Schedule regular dental cleanings
See a dentist if plaque has hardened into tartar
