Pat the salmon dry
Brush the salmon with oil
Season the salmon with salt and pepper
Place the salmon skin-side down on the grill
Close the lid if using a gas grill
Grill for 4 to 6 minutes per side, depending on thickness
Flip carefully if the salmon is not skin-on or if it releases easily
Cook until the salmon flakes easily and reaches 145°F internally
Remove the salmon from the grill
Let it rest for a few minutes before serving
