Choose a bright location with 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily, or use a strong grow light
Use only nutrient-poor soil such as sphagnum peat moss mixed with perlite or silica sand
Avoid regular potting soil, fertilizer, and compost
Plant in a plastic, glazed ceramic, or other non-reactive pot with drainage holes
Water only with distilled water, rainwater, or reverse osmosis water
Keep the soil consistently moist, not waterlogged
Use the tray method by placing the pot in a shallow tray of water during the growing season
Reduce watering slightly during dormancy, but do not let the soil dry out completely
Feed the plant only small live insects if it is grown indoors and not catching prey
Do not trigger the traps unnecessarily
Maintain warm temperatures during the growing season and cooler temperatures during dormancy
Provide a winter dormancy period of about 3–4 months
Remove dead leaves and blackened traps as needed
Repot every 1–2 years using fresh carnivorous plant soil
Protect the plant from tap water, fertilizer, and overfeeding
Grow it outdoors in a sunny, humid, frost-free area if climate allows
