Remove the existing door, trim, and drywall from the wall section where the pocket door will go
Check for plumbing, wiring, ducts, and load-bearing framing in the wall
Install the pocket door frame kit according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Build or adjust the rough opening to match the pocket door frame dimensions
Secure the header, track, studs, and split studs in place
Ensure the track is level and the frame is plumb and square
Install the pocket door hardware, rollers, and hanger brackets
Hang the door on the track and test its movement
Adjust the rollers so the door slides smoothly and stays aligned
Install the door jambs, trim, and casing around the opening
Reinstall drywall on the wall surface, leaving access if required by the kit
Tape, mud, sand, and finish the drywall
Install the door pulls, edge pulls, and latch hardware
Test the door for smooth operation and proper closing
Paint or finish the wall and trim as needed
