Gather the backup camera kit, monitor or head unit, power tools, wire strippers, crimp connectors, electrical tape, zip ties, and trim removal tools
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
Choose the camera mounting location above the rear license plate or on the trunk handle
Mark and drill the mounting hole if required
Mount the camera securely
Route the camera cable through the vehicle body and into the cabin
Remove interior trim panels as needed to access wiring paths
Run the video cable from the rear of the vehicle to the dashboard
Avoid routing near sharp edges, moving parts, or hot components
Connect the camera power wire to the reverse light positive wire
Connect the camera ground wire to a clean chassis ground
Connect the video cable to the monitor, head unit, or display input
Connect the monitor or head unit power wire to an ignition-switched or accessory power source
Reconnect the battery terminal
Turn the ignition on and shift into reverse to test the camera
Adjust the camera angle for the desired view
Secure all wiring with zip ties and reinstall trim panels
Seal any drilled holes with grommets or silicone if needed
