Turn off power to the bathroom circuit at the breaker
Remove the old vent cover or fan assembly if replacing one
Mark the vent location between ceiling joists
Cut the ceiling opening to match the fan housing
Position the fan housing in the opening
Secure the housing to the joists with screws or brackets
Connect the ductwork to the fan outlet
Run the duct to an exterior vent cap
Seal duct joints with foil tape
Insulate the duct if it passes through unconditioned space
Wire the fan according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Connect the fan to the switch and power source
Install the fan grille or cover
Attach the vent cap outside the house
Restore power and test the fan operation
Check for proper airflow and any air leaks
