Turn off water supply to the tub
Disconnect the drain and overflow assembly
Remove faucet, handles, and shower fixtures
Cut caulk and sealant around the tub edges
Remove any access panels
Detach surrounding wall materials if needed
Unscrew or pry loose the tub flange from the wall studs
Break the tub into sections if necessary for removal
Lift and remove the tub from the alcove or bathroom
Dispose of the tub according to local regulations
Inspect and clean the subfloor and framing
Repair any water damage before installing a new tub
