Turn off the water supply
Remove the old toilet, if replacing
Clean the floor and inspect the flange
Install a new wax ring or seal on the flange
Position the toilet over the flange
Press the toilet down evenly to seal it
Insert and tighten the closet bolts
Check that the toilet is level
Attach the tank, if separate
Connect the water supply line
Turn on the water supply
Check for leaks
Install the toilet seat
Test the flush multiple times
