How to Season a Cast Iron Frying Pan?

Wash the pan with warm water and a small amount of mild soap

Scrub off any rust, residue, or old seasoning

Dry the pan completely with a towel

Heat the pan on the stove or in the oven to remove all moisture

Apply a very thin layer of cooking oil to the entire pan, inside and out

Wipe off all excess oil until the surface looks nearly dry

Place the pan upside down in an oven preheated to 450–500°F

Put foil or a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch drips

Bake for 1 hour

Turn off the oven and let the pan cool inside

Repeat the oiling and baking process 2–4 times for a stronger seasoning

After each use, clean the pan gently, dry it fully, and apply a light coat of oil
