Choose ripe, fresh fruit
Wash the fruit thoroughly
Remove stems, pits, seeds, and peels if needed
Cut the fruit into small pieces
Measure the fruit
Add sugar
Add lemon juice
Cook the fruit and sugar over medium heat
Stir until the sugar dissolves
Mash the fruit if a smoother jam is desired
Simmer until the mixture thickens
Test the jam for setting
Remove from heat
Skim off any foam
Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars
Seal the jars tightly
Let the jars cool completely
Store in a cool, dark place or refrigerate after opening
