Wash and peel a 1 to 2 inch piece of fresh ginger root
Slice or grate the ginger
Add 2 to 3 cups of water to a pot
Bring the water to a boil
Add the ginger to the boiling water
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes
Strain the tea into a cup
Add honey, lemon, or other sweetener if desired
Serve warm
