Start with white icing
Add a tiny amount of green gel food coloring
Add a very small amount of black or brown food coloring to mute the green
Mix well
Adjust with more green for a brighter sage tone
Adjust with more black or brown for a duller, grayer sage tone
Add a little white icing if the color becomes too dark
Let the icing sit for a few minutes to deepen slightly before final adjustment
