For an IP PIN, use the IRS online tool at IRS.gov and verify your identity
Create or sign in to your IRS Online Account to request an IP PIN
If you cannot verify online, complete Form 15227 to request an IP PIN by mail or fax
If you still cannot verify, schedule an in-person appointment with the IRS
For an e-file PIN, use your prior-year adjusted gross income or prior-year self-selected PIN when filing electronically
If you do not have a prior-year PIN, use the IRS Free File or tax software to create one during e-filing
