Wash and dry your hands
Check the glucometer, test strip, and lancet device
Insert a test strip into the glucometer
Prepare the lancet device with a new lancet
Clean the fingertip if needed and let it dry
Prick the side of the fingertip with the lancet
Gently squeeze to obtain a small blood drop
Touch the test strip to the blood drop
Wait for the glucometer to display the reading
Record the blood glucose result
Dispose of the used lancet and test strip safely
Turn off the glucometer if needed
Store the device and supplies properly
