Pat the chicken breast dry
Season both sides with salt, pepper, and any desired spices
Heat a skillet over medium heat
Add a small amount of oil or butter
Place the chicken breast in the skillet
Cook for 5 to 7 minutes on the first side
Flip the chicken breast
Cook for 5 to 7 minutes on the second side
Reduce heat if the outside is browning too quickly
Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F
Remove from the skillet
Let rest for 5 minutes
Slice and serve
