Check for remaining scales and remove them if needed
Season the fillet with salt and pepper
Add optional seasonings such as garlic, lemon, herbs, or paprika
Let the fillet rest for a few minutes after seasoning
Preheat the oven, pan, grill, or air fryer if cooking immediately
Lightly oil the cooking surface or brush oil onto the fillet
Place the salmon skin-side down if cooking with skin
Cook until the salmon flakes easily and reaches a safe internal temperature
Rest the fillet briefly before serving
