Use clean, sharp pruning shears or scissors
Sterilize the blades before cutting
Prune in spring or early summer
Remove yellow, brown, damaged, or diseased leaves
Cut stems just above a node to encourage new growth
Trim leggy vines to control size and shape
Remove aerial roots only if necessary
Do not remove more than one-third of the plant at a time
Make cuts at a slight angle
Dispose of removed plant material
