Verify that you are legally allowed to own firearms and regulated accessories
Choose a licensed dealer or manufacturer that sells NFA items
Select the silencer model you want
Complete the required federal paperwork, usually ATF Form 4 for a transfer or ATF Form 1 for making one
Submit fingerprints, photographs, and any other required identification materials
Pay the federal transfer tax
If required, obtain approval from your local chief law enforcement officer or use an approved trust or legal entity
Wait for ATF approval before taking possession

Pick up the silencer from the dealer after approval and any required background check
