Locate the gas meter
Check the type of meter
Read the numbers from left to right
Ignore red numbers, dials, or digits after the decimal if instructed by your supplier
Record only the black numbers on a digital meter
On a dial meter, note the number each dial has just passed
Write down the reading exactly as shown
Submit the reading to your gas supplier if required
Compare with your previous reading to track usage
