Use a saline nasal spray or rinse
Inhale steam from a warm shower or bowl of hot water
Drink plenty of fluids
Use a humidifier
Apply a warm compress to the face
Sleep with your head elevated
Try over-the-counter decongestants if appropriate
Try over-the-counter antihistamines if allergies are involved
Avoid smoke, strong odors, and other irritants
Rest as much as possible
Blow your nose gently
Seek medical care if symptoms are severe, persistent, or worsening
