Blot up any wet nail polish immediately with a clean white cloth or paper towel
Do not rub the stain
Scrape off any dried excess with a dull knife or spoon
Test acetone or non-acetone nail polish remover on a hidden carpet area first
Apply a small amount of remover to a clean white cloth
Dab the stain gently from the outside inward
Keep blotting with a clean section of the cloth as the stain lifts
Alternate with a dry cloth to absorb loosened polish
Repeat until the stain is gone
Rinse the area with a cloth dampened with cold water
Blot dry with a clean towel
Sprinkle baking soda or carpet cleaner if any residue remains
Vacuum once the area is fully dry
