How To Replace Garage Door Rollers?

Gather the needed tools: replacement rollers, winding bars, locking pliers, wrench set, screwdriver, and ladder

Close the garage door fully

Disconnect the garage door opener

Unplug the opener if needed

Clamp locking pliers on the track above one of the bottom rollers to keep the door from moving

Open the door slightly if needed to relieve tension on the rollers being replaced

Remove the hinge bolts holding the roller bracket in place

Slide the old roller out of the hinge

Insert the new roller into the hinge

Reinstall and tighten the hinge bolts

Repeat for each roller one at a time

Replace rollers one section at a time to keep the door supported

Check that each roller spins freely

Inspect the tracks for dirt, bends, or damage

Clean the tracks if needed

Remove the locking pliers

Reconnect the garage door opener

Test the door by opening and closing it several times

Tighten any loose hardware after testing
