Rinse the broccoli under cold water
Trim off the tough stem end
Cut the broccoli into evenly sized florets
Fill a pot with 1 to 2 inches of water
Place a steamer basket in the pot
Bring the water to a boil
Add the broccoli to the steamer basket
Cover the pot with a lid
Steam for 4 to 6 minutes
Check for tenderness with a fork
Remove the broccoli from the pot
Season as desired and serve
