How to Stop a Nosebleed at Home?

Sit upright and lean slightly forward

Pinch the soft part of your nose just below the bridge

Hold continuous pressure for 10 to 15 minutes

Breathe through your mouth while pinching your nose

Spit out any blood that goes into your mouth

Apply a cold compress to the bridge of your nose or cheeks

Keep your head above your heart

Avoid lying down

Avoid tilting your head back

Avoid blowing your nose

Avoid picking or rubbing your nose

After bleeding stops, rest quietly for several hours

If bleeding starts again, repeat the pressure steps

Seek medical help if bleeding is heavy, lasts longer than 20 minutes, or follows an injury
