Drink plenty of fluids

Sip water, broth, or clear liquids often
Eat bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast
Avoid greasy, spicy, or high-fiber foods
Avoid dairy if it worsens symptoms
Avoid caffeine and alcohol
Rest as much as possible
Wash hands frequently
Consider over-the-counter anti-diarrheal medicine if appropriate
Stop eating solid foods briefly if diarrhea is severe, then restart with bland foods
Seek medical care if diarrhea lasts more than 2 days, or if there is blood, high fever, severe pain, or signs of dehydration
