Blow your nose gently and often
Use saline nasal spray or drops
Drink plenty of fluids
Use a humidifier or steam
Rest as much as possible
Avoid smoke, dust, and strong odors
Take a warm shower
Use a warm compress over the nose and face
Try over-the-counter decongestants if appropriate
Try over-the-counter antihistamines if allergies are the cause
Keep your head elevated when lying down
Wash your hands regularly
See a doctor if symptoms are severe, last more than 10 days, or include fever, facial pain, or trouble breathing
