Brush gently twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush
Floss daily to remove trapped food and plaque

Apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek
Avoid chewing on the painful side
Do not use teeth to open packages or bite hard objects

Seek urgent dental care if there is swelling, fever, pus, or severe pain
