Identify the type of handle and locate the screws
Open the door to access the edge and interior side if needed
Tighten any visible screws on the handle plate with the correct screwdriver
Check the handle set screw on the side or underside of the lever or knob
Remove the handle cover or decorative plate if screws are hidden
Tighten the mounting screws underneath the cover
Reattach the cover or plate securely
Test the handle for looseness
Tighten the latch plate screws on the door edge if the latch area is loose
Replace stripped screws with slightly longer or larger screws if needed
Use thread locker on screws that keep loosening
Check both sides of the handle to ensure all fasteners are snug
