Call emergency services immediately
Remove the person from the heat source if it is safe to do so
Do not remove clothing stuck to the burn
Do not apply ice, butter, ointments, or creams
Do not break blisters
Cover the burn loosely with a clean, dry, nonstick sterile dressing or cloth
Raise the burned area above heart level if possible
Keep the person warm and prevent shock
Do not immerse large burns in water
Monitor breathing and be ready to perform CPR if needed
Seek urgent hospital treatment for all third-degree burns
