How To Treat A Stroke?

Call emergency services immediately

Note the time symptoms started

Keep the person lying down with head slightly elevated

Do not give food, drink, or pills

Do not give aspirin unless instructed by a medical professional

Monitor breathing and consciousness

Perform CPR if the person is unresponsive and not breathing normally

If trained, place an unconscious but breathing person on their side

Get to a hospital with stroke treatment capability as fast as possible

Follow hospital treatment such as clot-busting medicine or clot removal if eligible

Treat blood pressure, blood sugar, and oxygen levels as directed by medical staff

Start rehabilitation as soon as recommended

Take prescribed medicines exactly as directed

Control risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, cholesterol, and atrial fibrillation
