Rest the groin and avoid activities that cause pain
Apply ice for 15 to 20 minutes at a time, several times a day for the first 48 to 72 hours
Use compression with an elastic bandage or supportive shorts if comfortable
Elevate the leg when possible
Take over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen if safe for you
Gently move the leg as pain allows to prevent stiffness
Avoid stretching or exercising the area until pain improves
Return to activity gradually once pain, swelling, and weakness have resolved
Seek medical care if pain is severe, swelling is significant, walking is difficult, or symptoms do not improve
Get urgent medical attention if there is a visible deformity, numbness, fever, or sudden testicular pain
