Clean the male pipe threads
Hold the fitting with the threads facing you
Start the tape at the end of the threads
Wrap the tape clockwise
Overlap each wrap slightly
Apply 2 to 3 wraps for most fittings
Keep the tape flat and tight
Press the tape into the threads
Tear or cut the tape cleanly
Screw the fitting together by hand
Tighten with a wrench if needed
Avoid covering the first thread end
Remove and reapply if the tape wrinkles or tears
