Open Minecraft
Sign in to your Microsoft account
Make sure you have an active internet connection
Choose the correct edition with your friends
Java Edition: join a server or a Realms world
Java Edition: click Multiplayer
Java Edition: add a server or select an existing one
Java Edition: enter the server address if needed
Java Edition: click Join Server
Bedrock Edition: click Play
Bedrock Edition: go to the Friends tab
Bedrock Edition: join a friend’s world if it is available
Bedrock Edition: add a friend using their gamertag if needed
Bedrock Edition: join a Realm if invited
Create your own world and set multiplayer options
Set the world to allow friends or online players
Invite friends from the in-game menu
Accept multiplayer invites from friends
Make sure all players use compatible game versions
Check that multiplayer is enabled in account and privacy settings
Use the same server, Realm, or world as your friends
