Place the spoon and fork side by side on the plate
Position them diagonally from lower right to upper left
Keep the handles together and the tips pointing toward the center of the plate
If using a knife, place it alongside the fork with the blade facing inward
Do not leave utensils crossed
Do not place utensils on the tablecloth or napkin
If at a formal setting, place them in the finished position at 4 o’clock on the plate
If finished, rest the utensils neatly without leaving them hanging off the plate
