Blot up as much urine as possible with paper towels or a clean cloth
Press firmly and replace towels until the area is mostly dry
Mix equal parts white vinegar and water
Lightly soak the stained area with the vinegar solution
Blot again with a clean towel
Sprinkle baking soda over the damp area
Let the baking soda sit until fully dry
Vacuum up the dried baking soda
Apply an enzymatic pet stain cleaner if odor or stain remains
Follow the cleaner’s label instructions
Repeat the process if needed
Avoid using steam or hot water
Test any cleaner on a hidden carpet area first
